A flat end closure arrangement for a thermoplastic coated paperboard container, and the blank therefor, wherein four sets of dual, oppositely skewed, supplementary score lines (82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94, 96) are formed on two sides of the resultant end closure, such that they are adapted to be folded into position just inside the usual horizontal score lines (16) separating the end closure panels from the sidewall panels. These supplementary score lines provide a second, substantially 90<o> bend for the paperboard layers, supplementing a 90<o> bend about the respective horizontal score lines, in lieu of each usual 180<o> bend about the respective horizontal score lines, thereby diminishing the chances for cracking of the thermoplastic coating at the bend locations.

Additional lines 12 of the second group are located on the sealing sections 10 and extend from the ends of lines 11 of the first group to the edge 13 of the billet. The lines 12 of the second group are inclined in the opposite direction with respect to the lines 11 of the first group, and the vertical inflection lines are extended to the free edge 13 of the preparation.
The formation of the box from the blank is performed as follows.
First, the workpiece is joined by the edges (figure 2) by rotating it around vertical bending lines. The prefabricated edge is opened to form a rectangular shape, and then the bottom end portion of the package is formed. Next, a product (for example, milk or juice) is placed in a box and the upper end part is formed. The triangular overlapping areas rotate around horizontal lines 3 of the bend of the first row and away from the center of the box. At the same time, the inner surfaces of the sealing panels are rotated towards one another.
As a result, the inner surfaces of the additional triangular portions 8 are in contact with the triangular overlapping portions 5. The sealing portions 10 are joined by means of known means that provide liquid tightness.
FIG. Figure 4 shows the position of the various elements of the end part of the box after the upper overlap has taken on a flat shape with sections stretched outward from the side walls. Further, these portions are folded inward by turning 180 to form a flat configuration shown in FIG. 6
In the resulting box, due to the implementation of additional inflection lines, there are no sharp bends along the frame arms of the box, which allows for the avoidance of

compressing the outermost stretched layer (Fig. 7).
Fig. 8 shows another variant of the blank for the box in which the side seam is located in the center of one of the side walls and not at the corner.
The proposed box minimizes the possible 1 stress and cracking of the layers at the edges of both the lower and upper end parts by replacing each bend by 180 ° with two bends with smaller angles.
